Vatican Wants Dialogue With China

It was in 1951, after the communists took power in China, that Beijing broke ties with the Vatican. Now the Vatican and China’s high-ranking clergy are in the process of taking part in a “respectful and constructive” dialogue with Beijing authorities over the role of the Catholic church there, the Vatican said Thursday.
