Obama Makes the Call to Find Common Ground in Notre Dame Commencement Speech

On Sunday, May 17th, President Barack Obama gave the commencement speech to the graduating class of 2009 at Notre Dame University, calling on Americans with opposing views on abortion and other issues “to find a way to live together as one human family.” On three separate occasions, the President emphasized the need to find “common ground” and challenged the graduates in the audience to adhere to a tenet of all religions around the world: the golden rule.
